Deceptive manipulation gives unfair advantage over others. Some are very skillful in deceit and may be very difficult to detect. Powerful counter-measures include:

• Seek independent evidence.
• Control your feelings.
• Ask to repeat details.
• Remember your facts, basic support and limits.  
• Generally don’t take on in a public place.
• Protect yourself from abuse.
• Give liar an easy way out.
