There are people who continually object and act like “wet blankets” on plans or projects. This is more than acting as “Devil’s Advocate” for debating points. To cope with such contacts:

  • Say you hear the objections, but value the original ideas.
  • Describe effects on you.
  • Use exaggeration to a humorous extreme.
  • Request any and all positives.
  • Ask person how this negative style affects him or her.
  • Escape as necessary!
