Controlling Tension
Like violins, bodies perform best with enough tension to respond, but not so much as to be shrill. To counter excess tension, give your body special feedback by tightening your hands and feet while holding your breath. Then release the tight holding. Do this a few times, adding any muscles that feel tense. Your body will soon get the message to relax. What tight places need relaxing? Where can you take "time outs"?
